2048 Cupcakes is a number puzzle. Players slide tiles on a four by four board, and two matching cupcakes merge into the next one. Getting far takes planning, so it is quiet practice in thinking a few moves ahead. Each tile stands for a power of two, which some teachers use as a hook for doubling and exponents.

What children will and will not find

• No accounts, sign-ups, chat or contact with other players.
• No downloads and no in-game purchases.
• No sound, so it does not disturb a classroom.
• No violence. The Halloween version has cartoon ghosts, a mummy and a pumpkin, nothing more.

What the game stores

Only the best score and the board in progress, saved in the browser's local storage on that device. Nothing is sent to us. Clearing the browser's site data erases it.

At school

Everything the game needs loads from 2048cupcakesgame.com itself, with no outside servers. If a school filter blocks the site, it will not load at all; if the filter allows it, it plays normally.
